about
Written in the winter months of 2020, during the first Covid-19 pandemic. After weeks of uncertainty and unpredictable actions of people in many positions of power, it felt a little concerning to say the least...
People were getting anxious and many jobs were lost, people living on government handouts. Businesses suffering, shutting down, people losing their lively hood and eventually everything they worked for... It wasn't a good scene. Through it all it was important to remember that many were working around the clock to find solutions. As frustrating and scary as it all gets, we would surely persevere.
lyrics
Are you coming
Are you going
Do you know
Trapped inside this comfortable prison
All I have to show
Seeing all these lost reflections
The ones I've let go
Is it sickness is it madness
Are we friend or foe
Can I wait this out forever
it's hard to face that
I will be your enemy
If you don't see the friend in me
When this is over
I want to be closer
But you're growing older, colder and colder
I will let you down
I still let you down
Where we going
Are we there yet
Do you even know
Let's just put the past behind us
On your mark, get set, go
Dodging conflict builds your prison
So small and shallow
Open up and face your demons
Send them back below
I won't wait this out forever
It's hard to face that
I will be your everything
If you'll just breathe some life into me
When this is over
I want to be closer
But you're growing older, colder and colder
I will let you down...
I still let you down...
I can't see what I need from a society that's using me
My head keeps flipping it over and over
Think the drugs kicked in and I wish I was sober
I shouldn't hurt, but it could be worse
You could be gone
Long on the run
But then I shouldn't hurt
It could be worse
I could be alone, no one to hold again
I will free the strength in me
To just be: your everything
Now that it's over
I want to be closer
But you've grown older, concrete and sober
I will let you down
I still let you down
